Latin - America by bike | The trip has begun

1. Description of the project

On this solo bike trip from Santa Cruz, California to Tierra del Fuego, Argentina, the most southern tip of South America, my aim is to cover 17600 Km ( 10600 miles ) in 12 months going through 15000 feet mountain passes. In order to complete this expedition in the time desired, I will ride approximately 60- 80 miles per day.


The purpose of this expedition is to gain deeper understanding of different cultures and new ways of living along with the additional physical and emotional challenges of completing the trip biking alone.


2. Philosophy

3. Route

This expedition through the Americas is divided into 5 different stages. The following description will give you a better idea of what I am going to do. The distance is based on information from experiences of other cyclists. However, things could change at any moment. I am sure that there will be modifications, depending on the situation of the country that I am traveling in. The distance that I will travel is about 17600 Km ( 10600 miles ).

•  Santa Cruz - San Diego: 600 Km - 372 miles

•  Mexico: 1800 Km - 1118 miles

•  Mexican Border to Costa rica (Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua): 3000 Km - 1864 miles

•  Peru and Bolivia: 5000 Km - 3106 miles

•  Chile and Argentina : 6000 Km - 3728 miles
